our xhosa youth ministry team got together tuesday for a few hours for our weekly prayer/planning meeting. the discussions lately have really revolved around our end goal:
training & equipping NATIONALS to take over the work (basically, we want to work ourselves out of a "job"). why? because this is NOT about us. our team strategy (& ultimately what we believe the Lord has called us here for) is to reach not just the generation right in front of us. we don't want to solely impact the young people who will come into/out of our lives over the next 18 months.
it MUST continue...we just want to get the ball rolling.
so who will take over the work in our absence?
who among the xhosa communities will step up
to reach their own young people?
right now we are working alongside of several pastors who seem to have caught that vision. please join us in PRAYer for wisdom in partnering with/training other nationals (who they are, where they are). PRAY that the Lord would lead us directly to those people so we can make the most efficient use of this next year & a half! Thanks to all of you who so faithfully step alongside of us in these efforts!

| This little guy often comes to after-school club with his sister, although he's technically too young. He never speaks a word...just sits quietly until club is over. When he IS old enough & we're no longer here, who will teach HIM & his peers about Jesus? Faces like these remind me that our work must go beyond the students we see 4 days/week...we MUST be about training nationals to do this work! |
