day 96: rest, relax & reboot!

sunday really seemed to get lost in the shuffle of all that is going on here these days! we did not visit with a xhosa church this week as we took the opportunity to truly rest. slept in & then spent the rest of the morning & afternoon finalizing plans for life orientation (LO) classes as well as after-school clubs for the upcoming week.

for the LO classes (which teach about being a responsible individual of good character), we follow a basic curriculum outline. stepping into the work in the middle of the year is quite interesting as the topic that is to be covered first for us is "marriage & intimacy." sex seems to be quite the taboo topic here & yet the whole term is about sex, AIDS & STIs. nothing quite like introducing yourself & jumping straight into the deep end!
i was really excited to visit another english-speaking church sunday night as i'd heard it was geared toward a more contemporary style. ironically, we just so happened to visit with them when they were doing a service where 3 missions teams reported back about their endeavors. got to hear some incredible stories, learned an amazing english/xhosa worship song & see a few young folks we'd seen before.
