day 158: a saturation of silence & solitude

got up to 27 degrees today (that's 81 for those of you back home) & i was in HEAVEN! sarah & i jumped in the car, rolled down the windows, turned on the music & headed to the BEACH [as did what felt like the rest of cape town]. seems this place is coming alive these days!!

found a sunny spot to lie down & put in the headphones to drown out the thousand other people around. watched the waves rolling in & the children splashing about...& found myself able to smile & rest. mother theresa once said, "in the silence of the heart God speaks. if you face God in prayer & silence, God will speak to you. then you will know that you are nothing. it is only when you realize your nothingness, your emptiness, that God can fill you with Himself. souls of prayer are souls of great silence." how often do we approach the Father in prayer without our own agendas, willing to simply sit & listen??
