since we've had a tough time at mzamomhle school, our team completely covered today in PRAYer. taught 4-grade 7 classes on family & conflict resolution. then spent our time in after-school girls' club discussing changes in life (moving, changing schools, making new friends, etc.) & God's bigger plans amidst those changes.
all went pretty well. BUT, my favorite part of the day happened during our 3rd class. as we stood in a back classroom, i leaned my head out the busted windows & noticed 4 of our after-school club girls who, with no teacher that day, had pulled their desk outside in the sunshine to work on a project. while sarah & "T" took the lead in teaching, i headed out to join the girls. attendance in club has been waning & it's honestly been quite discouraging. so, i've been overwhelmed with the need to PRAY for wisdom at this school. found myself asking, "what are these girls' felt needs?" "what in the world would the Lord have us to do here now?"
so, i sat down & talked with them for almost an hour. little by little they let their guards down as we talked about struggles at home, church, family, school & friendship. by the end of the conversation, 3 more had joined us...i got my hair done (oh hello headache!)...& got quite the lessons in xhosa. what a joy to see them finally trusting & opening up! :)
PRAY with us as we continue at mzamomhle school this term - for continued wisdom & direction!
