day 200: jesus film

saturday was the 1st of 3 potential showings for the Jesus film this term - this time at xolani primary school. since we'd had some difficulty w/ communication this week, we were excited to arrive & see that the gate to the school was already open. 5 kids were already there an hour early saying they'd been up since 7 ready to go! we played some games outside while bruce, sheri & little "m" set up & others roamed in. had a great time laughing & playing w/ the kids.

by the time we began, 23 learners had showed up. just PRAYed that He would continue to draw His children in...& smiled continuously as they consistently came. about half an hour into the movie there were 68 people present. right before Jesus' crucifixion, though, we had some technical difficulties. over & over the DVD player would stop. eventually tried switching to a different DVD...but the problems continued. the kids got restless & slowly began to leave. unsure of why the Lord would have it happen that way, we stopped the movie & bruce verbally shared the rest of the story.
while we were all a little disheartened, we are trusting that even this will be worked for His glory. seeds were planted. the kids were able to see at least Jesus' life on earth portrayed in their heart language. and several students were there we really hoped to see. one child, "U," was there - who we've been consistently PRAYing for. he is the only one from after-school club that has not yet made a decision to follow Christ. PRAY with us that the Scriptures we sent home with them ("U" especially) will sink into the depths of their hearts. another young girl was there who rarely smiles & consistently has new bruises & swollen eyes every week. PRAY that she knows intimately the Love of a Father who will never leave her side or hurt her.

praising the Lord despite frustrations for HIS plans never fail.
