day 53: lessons on surviving

today i took sarah out for an hour or so to a nearby neighborhood so she could practice driving. she's never driven a straight-drive before...which is challenging enough on the RIGHT side of the road. she made some progress...but still has a ways to go! PRAY for quick learning!

then we ventured out to get gas & groceries. all i can say is i miss walmart (never thought i'd say that)! i'm pretty sure every cape townian was out grocery shopping today. NEVER again will we attempt to do that on a saturday! it took HOURS.

everyday is a mental marathon. constantly attempting to calculate kg to lbs, liters to gallons, mL to L, kilometers to miles, south african rand to US$ is about to drive me insane. i have to just laugh & remind myself that i'm not driving 120 mph & i haven't dramatically changed my pace at the gym - it's all KILOMETERS!!

stayed up LATE reorganizing the pages & pages of hand-written notes from the last 2 weeks of observation & team-teaching. a weekly schedule is finally coming together! woohoo!
PRAY for sanity!
more importantly, PRAY for clarity & direction for the student ministry in cape town amidst the chaos of settling into a new life & culture!
