day 162, 163, 164: NEEDTOBREATHE!

long days getting the best of me & making for a little slack in the updates! so sorry! wednesday was FILLED with a lot of appointments & a wonderful, encouraging time of fellowship & conversation that night.

thursday was similarly filled with appointments & meetings (wouldn't want to bore you w/ details)! did start some camp planning where the schedule is concerned for this coming march! so looking forward to what the Lord has in store there. we continue to beg you to join us in PRAYer for wisdom in direction for all involved!

today (friday) was an extremely long day but man, did we ever get a ton of things done! there's a song out by a group known as NEEDTOBREATHE (don't know them? again, you SHOULD!) that says, "when the curtain falls for one last time & closes out the show...keep smiling as you go." well...we've had an ongoing battle with the curtains in the house. seems every time we turn around they simply fall OUT of the wall. & that's how the day began! 3rd time this week = hard not to laugh..."keep smilin' as ya go!"

as we headed out the door bright & early, we received a phone call throwing another curve ball into our plans for the day. no big deal...just added another stop along the way. went first, though, to pay a bill at the nearby post office & ran into a lady whose car died right in front of the entrance. in the pouring rain several men looked past her so sarah, "R" and i got out to help. of course, then others got upset because of where i was parked. so, while i moved the car sarah & N pushed the lady's car to a safer spot...dropped the bill & money onto the ground in the process, which was quickly picked up by a nearby beggar. no worries - it all worked out. just made for a comical 5-minutes! the rest of the day seemed to continue similarly, BUT it was totally worth it.
(bottom left) exam questions = Bible verses
(bottom right) formal invitation to attend curriculum training
(other) high points of the day:
- sarah is finally OFFICIAL! we spent some time downtown at the home affairs office collecting her work permit! always a fun time spent there...lol...
- checked out a pretty "neat" place to eat called the "eastern food bazaar" - a conglomeration of food from around the world. best hummus ever!
- (saved the BEST for last) headed over to siyazakha school this am in the middle of everything else to extend a formal invitation to one of the teachers who has shown some interest in working with us. we desire for her to go through a 4-day lifeskills curriculum training with us, but because she'll need to miss a day of school we needed to gain the permission of her principal first. it could NOT have gone any better. when we arrived the learners were supposed to be taking exams but the school had no electricity (so they couldn't print the exams). there everyone sat in the dark while it continued raining outside. it was so dark that the principal couldn't even read the invitation letter we'd brought. but, it gave us the chance to speak with her & share a little of our hearts. she welcomed the invitation & allowed us to personally take the letter to the teacher...who SQUEALED with excitment that the day off was approved. "I MUST DIARIZE THIS IMMEDIATELY. I CANNOT LOSE THIS LETTER!" she exclaimed with big hugs for us both.

THEN she showed us the exam she'd made up for the classes we've been working in. i smiled when i realized she'd asked the students to fill in the blanks to Scripture we'd taught them (without the reference). PRAISE THE LORD that even though they may not realize it, the WORD IS TAKING ROOT in their minds! PRAY that it takes root in their hearts as well. & PRAY that this teacher, "mama N" continues to show an interest in joining the Lord at work!
