days 383-384: a home visit & Scripture memorization

this past monday & tuesday were both tough, tough days in grade 6 BUT there definitely were some really sweet, Daddy moments.

monday following after-school club, i took a brother-sister duo home to meet & visit with their family. this would be the first visit in-home with a learner since our arrival. we really wanted to get to know the students first, see who was committed & hungry for God's Word.
While in their home talking with their granny, she mentioned that her son was traveling across Norway making music. He went to the University of Cape Town & studied music. Then she gave me 2 of his albums (had a box full of them as any proud mom would)! By far, one of my favorite gifts from S. Africa! Music from the family of some of my favorite students!
Check out his website by clicking here!
we've had "M" (the older brother) in class & club since last year and he is THRIVING! last year, he was always the first to volunteer to story through creation-to-Christ & the first to open up & offer PRAYer requests. this year, he's continued to grow. while others (his sister "N" included) cut up in class, he calls them out and/or just gets up to move so he is not distracted. & he always has his Bible! here's how you can be PRAYing specifically for these 2 & their family:
- They've lived with their granny for 5 years now as their mother is an alcoholic. They are all praying she will come to know the Lord.
- Their father lives nearby but is in & out of the hosptial with cancer. This weighs heavily on "M's" heart - last year especially!
- They attend a Zionist church each week with their granny...so PRAY for TRUTH to invade
- "M" really struggles with anger. PRAY that as the Lord continues to take a hold on his life, he transforms this part of his heart.

on tuesday, only 5 from moshesh showed up to after-school club. but, those 5 really jumped at the challenge to memorize Scripture. one boy (2nd from left) came in with it already memorized from the last week. this challenged the others & with the help of a song, by the end of our time together they all had made great progress in committing the verse to memory.
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by PRAYer & petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." -Phil. 4:6

please PRAY with us over the challenge of mondays & tuesdays as we seek to connect with 6th graders who really struggle with english comprehension! thank you!
