last week was a lot of fun! our schedule is slowing down a bit with students beginning to take exams at the end of this, term 2. so we finished up in the schools for a few weeks! but before we did, we had a pretty cool day at moshesh primary.
for about a month now, very few students have been showing up to after-school club at this particular school. BUT - almost every week "M" joins us (you may remember him from previous posts last year. he is attending cape town baptist seminary & has a heart for young people. he attended the crossroads curriculum training with us, too). it's great to have a national working with us! he is able to communicate more clearly to these grade 6 students in their heart language.
a few months ago "A3" started coming. when M presented the gospel one day, she came forward with the rest of the group & claimed to have accepted Christ. africa is such a communal society so the group response was not much of a surprise. only our Lord truly knows the heart of each one of these, but we can witness & look for evidence of Him in their lives. since then, a few students have stood out...& A3 has faithfully come - even if she was the only one.
one week she & i sat outside for 30 minutes on a tree stump talking through Scripture. over & over she said, "ohhhhh" followed by another question. she was hungry to learn & it seems the hunger has continued to grow!
this past week M brought an evangecube with him...& it immediately elicited questions. A3 listened intently & then reached in for the cube. "i want to tell the story," she said. but more & more kids came in. eventually i got the chance to share the story with 7-8 kids - using romans 6:23 & the cube. they hung on every Word.
again, when i finished, A3 said, "ok my turn - i want to tell the story. can i have this cube?" M asked why she wanted it. "i want to tell this story to people." so we pressed her even further...asking her about her own relationship with the Lord. she says her relationship began the day she came forward & confessed Jesus as her Savior & she seems to really understand what that means. she was so excited to go home & share the story with her mom who is not a believer. when we left the school, M said, "now THAT is what making disciples is all about. THAT is the great commission!" AMEN!
"The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to a faithful few who will be able to teach others also." -2 Tim. 2:2
PRAY for A3 - that her family would soon connect with a church! PRAY also that she would continue to stand up unashamedly, professing Christ to her peers. some stayed while we talked further with her - just to listen. 2 girls listened intently & said they didn't know why they didn't have a relationship with Jesus yet. but...seeds are being planted.
