day 456: wrapping up the holiday

it's been quite some time since the last post, but we've had a long holiday from school here in cape town. the kids wrote exams for 3 weeks & then were off for 3 more. this year-round school has its pros & cons. i can't imagine taking exams for that long (& 4 times a year) BUT the holidays sure are nice! so, what have we been doing for 6 weeks?!? rest assured - there was plenty to do!

- sarah & i ventured out into the language-learning world for starters! we took part in a 5-week xhosa class & it was an incredible experience! we've had fun practicing with our xhosa friends, "eavesdropping" in the grocery store/bank & throwing out some language on the phone or with our waiters. is it really eavesdropping if you only understand every other word?! ;) we hope to take part in course 2 of 3 starting in october!
- we continued the long process of going through & cleaning out an entire room of ministry resources & supplies that have accumulated over the years. we can finally get in & utilize the spare room! woohoo!

- as a team, we visited several camp locations for another student leadership camp in march 2014 - where we will again partner with FUGE camps to train & equip some promising young Christian leaders. read about FUGE's partnership with the work in africa here! PRAY with us for wisdom & direction concerning the location of this camp!

- & sarah & i took a much-needed 3 days to get away, rest, relax & soak in the cape town views. God is good to provide in such a way as to make that possible. rest is GOOD!

term 3 officially starts back on monday! be on the lookout for a post SOON with some very specific PRAYer requests concerning life & ministry for the team here!
