day 460: back to school - term 3

it's hard to believe that this is the 2nd year already! this time last year, sarah & i had finished 2+ months of training in virginia, 1 month in zambia & a few weeks of orientation here in Cape Town, were finally moving into our "permanent" residence & were jumping into ministry on our own all at the same time. what a whirlwind!

our 2-year term officially ends jan. 23, 2014 but i will be extending until the end of april. that means 279 days for me left here in south africa. PRAYing the Lord opens my eyes to make the most of every single one of them - no matter what that looks like. would so appreciate you joining me in PRAYer here!
We are always encouraged by "J" (teacher on left) who stays in the classroom
& listens intently to the lessons & Bible stories.
Would you PRAY for salvation to reign in her heart & home?
monday we were ready to see the kids again! we pitched up at xolani & jumped into this week's lesson all about responsibility & care for others. it's amazing what you can do with a $1 goldfish, a pool noodle & a Bible! :) we used the story of esther to bring to life this idea that doing the right, responsible thing is not always easy! always such a sweet time to share God's Word in the classroom.

after school we had 15 learners show up for leadership club where they are memorizing & learning the romans road method of evangelism!

will you join us in PRAYing very intentionally over mondays? here's this week's very specific request:
we work primarily with 2 teachers at xolani. this week, "J" (who we've known for over a year & absolutely love) shared with us that her husband is returning home this friday after being gone since march. he has been training to become a sangoma (aka a traditional healer...a "witch doctor" as some might call it). friday-saturday she will host an all-night celebration & feast for a large number of people. she is required to sacrifice/slaughter an animal & "keep the african traditional beer flowing." there is great emphasis on ancestor worship. she continued sharing story after story of similar things in her life.

so, we are thanking the Lord for an unusual openness that He's allowed in her sharing & we're asking Him for wisdom & HIS timing to speak Truth into her life. would you PRAY that our God who knows no limits would breakthrough in the life of J's family? would you commit to PRAY friday night before you rest?
